The remainder of the photos for today feature patchwork quilts made by my daughter Jen's friend, Cassie. The fabrics used are from my late father's shirts and hankies; there is also some fabric from one of my late mother's blouses. Cassie created a small quilt for each of us and we just love how they turned out! She also stitched a "tube" on the back of each quilt, in case we want to hang them on rods - which we will likely end up doing.
This is a portion of my quilt. Seeing these different pieces of my Dad's flannel and Hawaiian shirts bring back a lot of memories for me. For example, the tiny plaid square to the upper right of the large plaid square is from the shirt Dad always wore on our trips to Vegas. The large purple Hawaiian square was a shirt that matched one of my Mom's tops - I have a photo of the two of them posing in these shirts outside of their favorite restaurant - Asia Garden - in Anchorage.
A portion of Jen's quilt. I don't recall ever seeing Dad wear the orange or green Hawaiian shirts, but the purple and blue plaids - both the large square and the tiny square above the green floral - are from his favorite shirts.

Betty Boop was Dad's favorite cartoon character and he had quite an extensive collection! I believe this piece came from some fabric that my aunt used to make a shirt for Dad.
